All I could think about last night is the fact that I have gained 15 pounds in 2 weeks. It got me wondering what else weighs that much. So here are a few things I found..

Weekly Update

We've had a few doctor appointments over the last few days and have some updates on how things are going. On Friday we went to see our Perinatal Specialist (High Risk Doctor) Dr. Peters. He does an ultrasound on the baby every week and then every other week he takes a ton of measurements of the baby. Harper is still a very BIG girl. According to his measurements she is right at 8 pounds. We are at 34 weeks and 4 days as of today. At this rate she is on her way to being a 10 pound baby when we deliver at 38 weeks. If we were to go full term to 40 weeks she would be around 12 pounds. Thank God we are not planning on going full term. We do fetal monitoring every week with Dr. Peters and things look great with Harper. Her heart rate is great and she is not showing any signs of distress. Every Monday we see my OB Dr. Bailey. Think of it like this….. Dr. Peters is all about the baby and monitoring her progress. Dr. Bailey is watching me and how my body is holding up with the baby and the other medical issues I have had with this pregnancy. Our appointment with Dr. B didn’t go as well as I had hoped for. I have gained 9 pounds in the last week. This is all in fluid. I am extremely swollen and my body is having a difficult time with all the fluid. In the last two weeks I have gained a total of 15 pounds. As a reference point up until 2 weeks ago I had only gained 12 pounds during this entire pregnancy. So needless to say the "Modified Bed Rest" that I have been on for the last few weeks has now turned into "Very Strict Bed rest" until we deliver the baby. I am allowed to get out of bed to go to the bathroom, move to the couch, or if the house in on fire. No more little trips to the store, or walking upstairs. The alternative to this is me checking into the hospital and I refuse to do that. So I have promised Chris I will be a very good patient and follow the doctors orders form this point.

We are still all set to deliver Harper on Monday, November 23, 2009 as long as I can make it until then. My blood pressure has been stable over the last few weeks and the preeclampsia seems to still be manageable.

I am still in good spirits just trying to manage the boredom that comes with bed rest. I know that Chris and I have done so much to make this little miracle happen and the bed rest is the easy part. Chris has been nothing short of amazing. He is taking excellent care of me and I know that there have to be moments where it is difficult on him to wait on me all the time. He is so protective of me that at times it is funny.

King of the Crown

I love this guy. He is so funny. I mean pee in my pants funny. I love the way he talks to all the ladies on this show. Quote from last weeks show "I mean her hair alone weighed 200 pounds". If you haven't seen this yet check it out on TLC. Cyrus and his crew will just make you smile.

November 23

That is our date!!!!!!!!!

We saw Dr. B today and we are all set for induction on Monday, November 23, 2009. If things keep going well this will be the Birthday of my sweet Harper!!!! I'm so excited. It just seems so real now! Baby and Mommy are still doing good. Dr. B says that we will step up and do more fetal monitoring each week and a few other test will be added in as well. The baby is measuring at 36 weeks right now. We will see Dr. Peters on Friday and he will measure the baby and give us an update on her size. Two weeks ago she was a little over 6 pounds. Dr. B says that I need to be prepared for early delivery if necessary and I should come to each appointment knowing that there is a possibility I could be admitted to the hospital at anytime.

Just thinking back to 1 year ago on Thanksgiving when I had a miscarriage. I prayed to the Lord to get me through that and knew that he would provide for Chris and I. Now a year later I will be holding a sweet baby girl in my arms. I can't think of anything more that could heal a broken heart like this. God is Good!

Fall Weekends ROCK

It was such an awesome weekend. Beautiful weather with perfect fall days. This is the best time of year for me. I got to spend tons of time with Chris. I'm nesting right now and it has been so much fun to get all of Harper's stuff together.

No Change is good

That is what Dr. Peters says. My appointment on Friday went great. Baby is doing great and so is Mommy. We should plan on delivering little Miss. Harper around 38 weeks. This would put us at the week before Thanksgiving which is perfect for me. It made it through my first week of not working and things are going well. I'm finding things to keep me busy.

Chris and I spent our Saturday at the hospital in a breast feeding class. I learned so much but I was amazaed at all the questions Chris had. He was all into the class and learning everythng he could about BF. It is a blessing to have him by my side.

Six Pounder

Went to see the high risk pregnancy doctor today and had an ultrasound done. Harper is 32 weeks and 2 days. She weighs 6 pounds 4 oz. Yes that is correct my 32 week old baby is over 6 pounds. She is a BIG Girl. The doc says everything looks good and he was happy to see that she is a good size. It shows that my placenta is still doing what it needs to do and she is getting everything she needs. If I go full term she will be well over 10 pounds at 40 weeks. So I confirmed with him that we will not be going to full term. He assured me that there is no way we will do that.

Pneumonia - That is what I have been in bed with all week. I seriously thought I was going to die at one point. I'm confident that I have slept at least 22 hours of everyday this week.

When it Rains it pours

That is how I have felt the last few days. I'm desperately trying to finish everything at work this week but it is becoming more and more difficult. It all started with a little cough yesterday morning. By 10pm last night I felt miserable and all I could think to myself is "OMG do I have the H1N1 Flu".I immediately called Dr. B first thing this morning to find out what to do. Good news is my Flu test came back negative. Bad news I still felt terrible. She sent me on to the hospital to get chest x rays and see of I had pneumonia. They sent me home and I spent several hours this afternoon in pain. Every breath I took hurt. Finally results came around 4pm and my x rays look clear, but we couldn't get a picture of the bottom of the lungs because of the baby. Dr. B called in 4 different scripts for me and thanks to some good pain meds I'm feeling a little better. Dear Lord please let me just through this week.

Leave of Absence

It is now official. I am going to be taking a leave of absence from work until I deliver the baby. I had a good appointment today with Br. Bailey. Here is the low down:

The baby and I are doing OK. Not much change form last weeks visit and that is exactly how we want it to be.

I am going to start seeing the doctor every 3-4 days until we deliver the baby. this will be split between seeing Dr. Baily and the High Risk Specialist, Dr. Peters. We will do ultrasounds and fetal monitoring every visit to determine what direction we need to go with delivery. So for now on it is 2 doctors appointments a week. Since I will be on LOA from work I'm sure I will have a little time on my hands.

Our ultimate goal is to get me to 38 weeks. I am 31 weeks today so that is not too far away. She reassured me that if were to deliver Harper right now she will be OK. May just have to spend time in the NICU but she would be able to survive so I need to not worry so much about her coming early. The goal is to deliver when the baby and I are both healthy.

That is all that happened today.

My first shower is on Sunday and I am beyond excited. I just can't wait!!
